Folks,
As you know, The Darwin150 campaign officially kicks off tomorrow,
Wednesday at 8PM Boston time at the Harvard Science Center with a
lecture from prominent historian of science, Everett Mendelsohn.
What can you do in the last 24 hours before kickoff? We have only *26*
live audience tickets left. And only *18* teleconference spots but we
do have much more webcast capacity. So help us fill up the Science
Center at Harvard and get more folks on the webcast!
1. Tell everyone you know in Boston to sign-up for the live event...
and, more importantly, tell everyone you know around the globe to sign-
up for the webcast. post this on listservs and campus boards.
"The World Before Darwin"
8pm Boston time
Live from Harvard University's Science Center
Free registration: http://DarwinLecture1.Eventbrite.com
2. Put this in your Facebook status update, campus Facebook page or
Intranet and Twitter
Facebook:
Darwin150 kicks off tomorrow, Wed 9/16 at 8pm Boston time with a live
lecture from Everett Mendelsohn, Professor Emeritus and one of the
founders of the social history of science. "The World before Darwin"
is free to sign-up and watch via web from anywhere in the world:http://darwinlecture1.eventbrite.com
Twitter:
Darwin150 kicks off Wed 9/16 @ 8pm ET w live webcast from Everett
Mendelsohn, Prof Emeritus: http://bit.ly/2xFXzX #darwin150
3. If you use Twitter, then please "live tweet" during tomorrow's
kickoff lecture
Tweet with #darwin150 at the end of each of your tweets (this means
you are commenting on or noting some of what Professor Mendelsohn is
saying using Twitter).
4. Encourage friends - especially nonscience majors - to sign up for
our free Darwin reading group
A Harvard professor will be leading a free phone-based reading group
walking readers through Darwin's "On the Origin of Species." Free sign-
up for this phone course here:http://Darwin2009-1.eventbrite.com
5. Join the Facebook group and invite all your Facebook friends
Join the group and then click on "Invite people to join" and invite
all your friends. And get your friends to join and invite all their
friends!
We have 250,000+ members and seek to reach 1 million by November 24.
Note: You should know that growth will be slow until we closer to
November 24 and then it'll grow much faster (we saw that pattern for
Darwin's birthday in February). This is not to be shared publicly
necessarily - but I'm telling you to be patient as we see growth
really start to pick up in early November.
6. Find new universities and campus representatives
We have a campaign to get volunteers at all the major universities,
colleges, community colleges in the U.S. and around the world. To join
the Darwin150 campus rep team, anyone can simply send me an e-mail and
tell me they'd like be a campus representative. That's all! There can
be more than one per campus.
Contact your friends at universities not listed below and ask them to
join the Darwin150 campus volunteer team.
